Hey Scott,

if you live in a major city, there are probably multiple places for gay and lesbian and other queer folk to meet, hang out, take exercise classes, hear lectures, have support groups, dance, arrange mentoring between older and younger gay men, lesbians, and transgender folk, take in shows, access social services… you name it. Try a google search for “gay center [your city]”.

On the other hand, if you live in a really rural area, that won’t work. You might have to find the closest gay bar to meet local folks, assuming there is a local gay bar and you can find it. Or you could move. Or you could try a dating website, whether gay focused or just gay friendly.
